Hi

Happy New Year!

I kicked mine off with a kettlebell routine and a run this past Monday night and I’m still sore.

Many of you are starting your New Year with resolutions to lose weight, get in shape, improve relationships, earn more, live better, etc. etc.

That’s good. There’s a certain energy at the start of the year that isn’t available to us at other times of the year, so make use of it.

We usually look forward to working on our resolutions with a mix of excitement, expectation . . . and dread. After all, positive change is growth, and growth is painful. Right?

Then, as we move into the year our excitement wanes and our dread waxes. A lot of us give up.

Here’s a guaranteed way to make achieving every goal easier.

Practice gratitude.

Whatever your goals are, they’ll involve work, but be grateful for the opportunities they represent, be grateful for the sheer physical and mental involvement they require, and which so many people dream to have but can’t.

Get up each morning and be grateful for the day – don’t question it, or fault it, or be reluctant to start it, just be grateful for it - and I guarantee you the day will be a better one. Your workouts will be more enjoyable, your relationships will improve, your career will move ahead and in the right direction.

The day will reward your gratitude.

Many people think the end of the year, i.e. Thanksgiving, is the time to give thanks and be grateful. Actually, it’s always a good time to be grateful, and the start of the Year may be the best time of all, because right now we have a whole year ahead of us.

It hasn’t been lived yet. It’s up to us what it brings, and for that we should be grateful. Next issue: Relationship/conditioning advice from The Evil One! Until then, train like you mean it,
